Introduction
This course provides a practical understanding of modeling and optimizing oil
production networks from individual wells through gathering systems and surface
facilities. Participants will learn how to integrate reservoir, well, flowline,
and facility models to predict production performance, identify bottlenecks,
and optimize field-wide production.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of oil production network modeling.
- Develop well and production-system models.
- Apply IPR/VLP and Nodal Analysis techniques.
- Calculate pressure drop through tubing, flowlines, and gathering
networks.
- Model multiphase flow in production systems.
- Build and analyze interconnected well–flowline–facility networks.
- Identify production bottlenecks and system constraints.
- Evaluate the impact of wellhead and separator pressures.
- Optimize choke settings and production allocation.
- Perform sensitivity and what-if analysis.
- Evaluate debottlenecking and field-development scenarios.
- Use commercial production-network simulation software.
